The Mediterranean country is blessed with beautiful historical sites, stunning natural features, heavenly accommodation, and exquisite cuisine. Let's explore these destination treasures.

Go architecture hopping. A trip to Greece wouldn't be complete without getting awestruck at the Acropolis of Athens. The site includes the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erectheion.

Delphi is located in central Greece. It was home to a famous oracle. Delphi dedicated a sanctuary to the god Apollo. The sanctuary contains many ancient ruins such as a theater, a temple, the Stoa of the Athenians, a hippodrome, a stadium and a gymnasium

The Minoan Palace of Knossos in Crete was built twice and destroyed twice. It was created sometime in 2000 BCE. The remaining structure still covers more than 20,000 square meters. Stories say the king kept a half-human, half-bull beast in the palace.

On the island of Corfu, there's the picture perfect 8th Century Old Town. Venetian, British, French and Greek culture have impacted the architecture. The Old Town is filled with mansions, shops, restaurants, and beautiful buildings.

The small sacred island of Delos, holds archaeological, historical and mythological importance. Visitors are encouraged to walk through history at the open-air museum filled with ancient ruins and artifacts. According to mythology, Artemis and Apollo were born here and no one else is allowed to be born or lay to rest here.

Other noteworthy sightseeing landmarks are the villages of Santorini, the ancient stadium and the temples of Zeus and Hera in Olympia, the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounio, and the gorgeous city of Thessaloniki.

Melissani Cave is located in Kefalonia. The cave is unlike any other. An underground lake sits in the cave with a giant opening hole at the top. You can book a boat tour into the cave and watch the sunlight shining onto the lake. The blue caves of Zakynthos are just as breathtaking. Inside the caves, a color of blue glows on the water and rocks. If you're lucky enough, during the boat your you might be able to swim in the waters.

Myrtos Beach is also in Kefalonia. It's a popular beach for everyone. Photographers flock here to take pictures of the pristine waters and tall cliffs.

Time stops at Meteora because of the extraordinary view of the clifftop monasteries and impressive boulders. Meteora is located in the middle of Greece. Visitors can rock climb, hike, and kayak near the area.

Crete has miles of beaches for watersport lovers and stunning landscapes for people to escape to. Visitors love wandering the Samaria Gorge. It's almost 10 miles of streams, forests, tall cliffs, and kri-kri goats. Camping is available at this National Park.

Take a dip and laze around the hot springs of Samothraki. It's less crowded in this area. The island also features waterfalls, plants, and stunning boulders.

More extraordinary outdoor sites include scenic Shipwreck beach, the impressive mountains and lakes in Drakolimni, and the waterfalls of Polylimnio.

Try glamping in a safari tent at the Surf Club Keros in Lemnos. It's a resort that features surfing and windsurfing. More glamping accommodations can be found online.

Sleep in Santorini's White House. The entire home is available on Airbnb. It features a two-story cave house, an upper apartment, a courtyard, an infinity pool, and an outdoor deck. The picturesque views of the glittering sea and volcano will astound you. Airbnb also lists other vacation home rentals such as rooms, apartments, and villas in various locations of Greece.

The hotel sits on a small cliff over the blue Aegean sea.

From Traditional Dishes to Everything

Traditional dishes usually have vegetables, fruits, olive oil, seafood, and meat. Condiments and sauces are rare in Greece because the food is already delicious with its seasonings. Try a horiatiki or Greek salad to believe it.

Experience a panigiri. Locals in Greece love being social and hosting a giant feast that includes drinking and dancing until the morning.

Coffee is very popular in Greece. Head to a cafe and treat yourself to a cup. Locals can stay at cafes for hours, even if they've only had one cup of coffee. It's just a normal thing to do in Greece.
